Smartphones – What to expect in 2019

As far as the smartphone market goes, sure, 2018 has been a packed year marked by some amazing launches. But if the latest leaks and rumours are to be believed, things are all set to transform even more in 2019.

In the next twelve months, millennials are going to get a hang of the highly anticipated 5G phones, folding screens, Qualcomm Snapdragon 85, in-display fingerprint readers and, even more, progressive cameras.

Here’s a roundup of top 5 upcoming smartphones we can’t wait to get our hands on in 2019.

Samsung Galaxy S10 series

Prep your calendars for February 20th, 2019 fellas, the tenth gen trios - Galaxy S10, S10+, and S10 Lite are coming! From the leaks so far, these devices will most likely be sized from 5.8 inches to 6.4 inches and may run on Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 in the United States and the Samsung Exynos processor internationally. More excitingly, the two expensive models among the three (or four?) may give us a chance to see a 12-MP main sensor, super wide-angle 16-MP lens, and a 13-MP lens sitting beside it. There have also been rumours about a fourth model, probably with 5G connectivity, 6.7-inches display, and six cameras.

iPhone 2019

iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max, and iPhone XR were unveiled only a few months ago. But this is Apple, and they leave no stone unturned to surprise the market. We don’t know what the new devices will be called yet, so let’s just refer them as the ‘iPhone 2019’ for the time being. Ditching the 3D touch, retaining OLED displays and the dual-camera lens setup, and some design upgrades have been rumoured so far.  Another leak says the new models won’t be 5G supporting. Well, we will have to wait until (most probably) September 2019 to find which rumours prove accurate.

Samsung Galaxy F (X?)

Samsung can name its first foldable smartphone anything it wants. Galaxy F. Galaxy X. Galaxy Fold. Galaxy F’19.  Galaxy Infinity War. End of the day, it’s their marketing strategists’ headache. So, let’s just focus on the rumors and techy speculations about this next-gen flagship handset. The phone with the Infinity Flex Display is rumoured to contain a huge 7.3-inch display when opened and a 4.58-inch display when closed – sounds cool, huh? There's also been a lot of talk about using Snapdragon 855 in the U.S. and Exynos 9820 in Korea.

Huawei P30 & P30 Pro

After the stellar P20 and Mate 20, we can’t help but be excited to find out what the Chinese phone maker puts out in 2019. The latest leaks suggest an in-display fingerprint sensor and new teardrop-style screen notch. Upgraded from the standard triple-lens camera to a four-lens is another feature Huawei might bring in to prove the brand’s camera dominance. Another leak suggests the possibility of Huawei launching a foldable smartphone to pose a legitimate threat to Galaxy F (X).

New OnePlus Phone

Right now, the leaks about a new OnePlus device is relatively thin, but the hopes are high. Why? Because the brand has a history of launching new phones every six months or so. The successor to OnePlus 6T is speculated to be a 5G handset with pop-up front camera and ultra-sleek bezels.
