The Apple iPhone XR
Many people are excited about the iPhone XR, not just because of its features but its price. Gadget experts are calling it the “budget-friendly alternative to the iPhone XS” – similar functionality and trademark sleek Apple design, but at a much more affordable price.
iPhone XR Specs and Design
You get a screen size of 6.1 inches, a resolution of 1792 x 828, a rear with 12 megapixels, and a front-facing camera of 7 megapixels. Storage comes in 64, 128 and 256. You get the iOS 12 operating system and the A12 bionic processing capabilities. At 194 grams and a 150.9 x 75.7 x 8.3mm dimensions, it’s a a bit larger but not uncomfortably clunky or difficult to wield. Available colors are blue, white, black, yellow, coral and red.
So in other words, it’s an okay phone. It’s not an ugly phone, but it’s not going to turn heads the way the other high-end phones will. Lots of people are underwhelmed by the thicker bezels and the noticeably cheaper materials, not because they look clunky but because the iPhone is known for its great design. The iPhone XR just falls short of the Apple reputation, like they took the old iPhone X and made a few quick adjustments before sending it off the factory.
The phone also doesn’t have a headphone jack, so you need to use the earbuds (nobody knows if they’ll be included in the box or purchased as a separate accessory).
iPhone XR Screen
While you may be disappointed by the iPhone XR design, you will be very happy with the screen. It’s larger, has a special liquid retina display that gives excellent color reproduction, and the tried and tested LCD technology. So no fears: your mobile phone will power up your Netflix marathons without any trouble at all, and you’ll enjoy good image and video quality at a much lower price than the premium phones.
However, if you’ve been using iPhones in the past, you may notice a slight difference: it is narrower at 18:9 than the widescreen formats you’ve encountered before. It won’t really br much of a handicap, but you will need to get used to it. And once in a while, the ridge with the cameras and speaker can intrude if you’re watching your movies in landscape. It’s not a big deal, but can drive some people crazy. Check out the phone in the stores to see if it falls within your personal preferences and tolerance levels.
iPhone XR Battery Life
While full details on battery life need to be seen when consumers give it an actual road test, but all factors seem to point to the possibility that the iPhone XR will give you a lot of hours of use per charge. Its features won’t consume a lot of power, but it also has a more efficient engine. So far the budget savvy iPhone shopper, that means a lot. You won’t get a lot of the more expensive features, but you do get decent quality and a longer lasting battery. If all you need is a phone that can play your videos, games and productivity apps, take decent pics, and get you through the day or two without threatening to shut off, this is for you.
